This client, who has trusted us before, needed us to retrieve six or seven packages from a collection point in Shenzhen and deliver them to Hong Kong. The cargo was a diverse mix of food items and small home appliances they had purchased from the Mainland.

The Challenge: A “Sweet Burden” Too Big for One Trolley

When our Zerrand runner arrived to collect all the packages, he faced an immediate logistical problem: the items were bulkier than expected and would not all fit on his trolley.

Forcing it would risk damaging the items or having them fall off during transit on the MTR.

1. Proactive Communication & Repacking Instead of making risky decisions, our first step was to immediately take photos and contact the client. We explained the situation and, after getting their permission, we carefully removed some of the bulky, unnecessary outer shipping boxes. This allowed us to consolidate the items safely and securely onto the trolley.

2. Above and Beyond: Proactively Buying Ice Packs While repacking, our runner noticed something critical: some of the items were perishable foods. The client hadn’t specifically requested a cold chain, but we knew the journey from Luohu to Central, Hong Kong would take over an hour, and in warm weather, the food could spoil.

So, our runner proactively ran to a nearby convenience store and bought several ice packs with his own money, creating a makeshift cold-chain to protect the client’s food.

3. On-Time Delivery: Luohu to Central With both problems solved, our runner departed from Luohu Port. Despite the full load, he navigated the route expertly, arriving in Central in just over an hour and handing all items safely to our client.
