Family Trips to HK Disneyland Don’t Have to Be a Nightmare
Did you travel anywhere during the recent 2026 Spring Festival? As someone who runs a cross-border private car service between Hong Kong and Shenzhen, my phone never stops buzzing during the holidays. Today, I want to share a real story from an order I handled last month (February 19th). It perfectly illustrates why choosing the right transportation is an absolute lifesaver when traveling with kids!
A Missed Message, but a Saved Return Trip
It was past 3:00 PM, and I was driving on the highway. My phone kept vibrating on the passenger seat, but safety comes first, so I didn’t check it. When I finally parked around 7:00 PM, I saw an urgent message from a new client:
“I need a private car to Hong Kong Disneyland. 5 people (2 adults, 3 kids). Leaving from Futian tomorrow morning. How much?”
I immediately knew I was too late. Sure enough, the client told me that since she hadn’t heard back, she panicked and bought train tickets for the morning trip.
Honestly, dragging three kids onto a train to get to Disneyland is tough, but doing it on the way back? That’s next-level exhaustion. After a full day of walking, kids are usually falling asleep on their feet. Imagine carrying three sleeping children, strollers, and bags through the MTR, transferring to the high-speed rail, and standing in long customs lines. It’s a parent’s worst nightmare.
Thankfully, the client made a smart move and booked our Cross-Border Private Car for the journey home.
Transparent Pricing with No Hidden Fees
Many people who haven’t used cross-border cars worry about hidden fees. I was completely transparent with the client on WeChat:
- Price: 700 RMB (Flat rate between 7:00 AM – 11:00 PM, no crazy holiday surges!).
- Process: A 300 RMB deposit secures the booking, and the balance is paid after boarding.
- Border Crossing: You have to get out of the car for the Mainland China checkpoint, but for the Hong Kong side, you just stay in the car! This feature alone is enough to make tired parents weep with joy.
Originally, the family wanted to stay until 10:00 PM to watch the famous Disney fireworks, so we scheduled the pickup for 10:10 PM.
Change of Plans: The Reality of Traveling with Kids
Fast forward to the afternoon of February 20th. Our dispatcher had already arranged a white 7-seater Toyota Alphard (Series 30). We set up a WeChat group with the driver and shared the dual-license plate details. We were ready for the late-night pickup.
Then, at 4:40 PM, the client messaged the group: “We can’t do it anymore. The kids are too tired. We’re skipping the fireworks and want to go back now!”
This is the biggest advantage of a private car: Flexibility. You aren’t tied to a rigid train schedule. We immediately contacted the driver, Mr. Chen, and rescheduled the pickup to 5:30 PM.
Escaping the 280 HKD Parking Trap
At 5:36 PM, the client sent a picture showing they had reached the Disneyland parking lot. Our driver, Mr. Chen, knew exactly what was going on.
If a car drives directly into the main Disney parking lot just to pick someone up, they get slapped with a ridiculous 280 HKD parking fee! To save everyone the hassle and money, the experienced Mr. Chen waited at the designated drop-off/pick-up area just outside. After a quick message to “walk a bit further down,” the family spotted his car.
They boarded at 5:48 PM. Inside the spacious 7-seater, the kids finally laid back and fell asleep. Less than an hour later, at 6:50 PM, they were safely dropped off right at the gate of their apartment complex in Futian, Shenzhen (Yitian Mingyuan).
Why I Highly Recommend Private Transfers for Families
Looking back at this order, if the family had taken public transport, they probably wouldn’t have reached home until 8:00 PM, feeling completely drained.
If you’re planning a family trip to Hong Kong—especially to places like Disneyland, Ocean Park, or the airport—I highly recommend checking out our Cross-Border Private Car Services. Spending a little extra buys your family comfort, dignity, and absolute peace of mind.
Need a ride? Hit me up anytime—just try to give me a little more notice so I don’t miss your morning trip while driving!
