In the cross-border errand business, you never really know where your next order will take you. Late Thursday evening around 8:00 PM, towards the end of March 2026, my WeChat notification went off. It was a returning client who had used our services several times before.

“Is there anyone available to deliver something to Hong Kong right now? It’s a phone again.”

Seeing it was a familiar face, I immediately followed up. After a quick exchange, the mission was clear: pick up a used phone from Dongmen in Luohu, Shenzhen (near Laojie Subway Station), and deliver it to Tung Chung in Hong Kong (specifically, Mun Shun House in Mun Tung Estate). The handover needed to happen right at the MTR station exit.

The Late-Night “Tung Chung” Challenge

Anyone who frequently travels between Shenzhen and Hong Kong knows that getting from Luohu to Tung Chung is not a quick trip. Tung Chung is located on Lantau Island, near the Hong Kong International Airport. Taking the MTR from the city center all the way out there takes quite a bit of time.

It was already 8:00 PM. If I dispatched someone to pick up the item in Luohu and cross the border immediately, they wouldn’t reach Tung Chung until very late at night. Not only is the journey exhausting, but the real issue was that our runner would likely miss the last MTR train back to Shenzhen and end up stranded at the border checkpoint.

To ensure the safety of our team and to keep logistics costs reasonable, I was completely transparent with the client: “It might be too late for tonight. Our runner might not catch the train back, and the exact pickup time is uncertain. Can we pick it up tomorrow morning instead?”

The client took a moment to confirm the schedule on their end, and we quickly reached an agreement: we would pick up the phone first thing in the morning and guarantee delivery to Tung Chung before 1:00 PM. Based on the distance and time required, I provided a reasonable cross-city delivery quote. The Morning Rush Across the Border

With the details hammered out, the client promptly paid to lock in the order. I immediately reserved our most reliable runner and the required time slot.

Early the next morning, to beat the weekend border traffic, our team member set out bright and early. Before arriving at the pickup location near the Hyatt Place in Dongmen, she called the sender in advance. By shortly before 9:00 AM, she had the used phone securely in hand.

Without wasting a single minute, she headed straight for the border crossing. Even though it was a weekend morning and crowds were starting to build, leaving early paid off. Both the Shenzhen subway and the border checkpoints were surprisingly smooth. When it comes to taking electronics across the border, we have extensive experience with our Shenzhen-Hong Kong errand service, so the customs clearance went exactly as planned.

Delivered Ahead of Schedule

After seamlessly transferring between the two cities’ transit systems and moving at a brisk pace, our runner was standing at the Tung Chung MTR station turnstiles by 11:15 AM—more than an hour and a half earlier than the client’s “before 1:00 PM” deadline!

Seeing the satisfied feedback after handing the phone safely to the recipient perfectly rounded off this cross-city mission. The distance might have been far, but with clear communication and smart planning, distance is never an obstacle.

If you ever find yourself needing urgent documents, IDs, or items transported between Shenzhen and Hong Kong, don’t hesitate to reach out. We might not have superpowers, but we are definitely the most reliable hands you can trust.
