Why Many Hongkongers Struggle with Mainland Online Returns
A few days ago, a Hong Kong customer asked me to receive two parcels for him. Today they finally arrived.
He told me he would come to Shenzhen in a few days to pick them up, so I asked, “Why not ship them directly to Hong Kong?” He laughed and said the seller doesn’t support Hong Kong delivery — and since he often travels to Shenzhen, it’s more convenient to send them to me.
But here’s the smart part:
“When I pick them up, I can check the items myself. If something’s wrong, I can return it right away. It’s a huge hassle to return things from Hong Kong.”
He’s absolutely right — many Mainland sellers have tight return deadlines, and sending items back from Hong Kong takes too long and costs too much.
For people who often visit Shenzhen, this “collect and check” method makes a lot of sense. You can inspect the items, save on logistics costs, and still have the flexibility to handle returns easily.
More and more Hongkongers are choosing this practical approach — it’s smart, cost-effective, and stress-free.
