The “Keep-Alive” Challenge: How Zerrand Delivered Live Hairy Crabs from Shenzhen to Hong Kong Ocean Park

The “Keep-Alive” Challenge: How We Delivered Live Hairy Crabs to Hong Kong Ocean Park

Autumn is hairy crab season. But for foodies separated by the border, the ultimate question is: How do you get premium Suzhou crabs to a Hong Kong dinner table… alive?

Recently, the Zerrand team undertook one of these “freshness-critical” missions.

The Client’s Dilemma: A Cross-Border Relay from Suzhou to Ocean Park

A client ordered a batch of live hairy crabs from Suzhou, Jiangsu province. They had them shipped via mainland courier (like SF Express) to our pickup point at the Shenzhen Luohu border.

But their final destination was Hong Kong Ocean Park.

This meant we had to:

  1. Intercept Precisely: Meet the package within the “golden hour” of its arrival at Luohu Port.
  2. Ensure “Keep-Alive” Status: Guarantee the live items were kept cool and secure during the cross-border transit.
  3. Handle a Complex Destination: Delivering to a theme park is far more complicated than a residential address.

Zerrand’s 3-Step Perishables Relay

Step 1: The “Golden Handover” at Luohu Port

The moment the client’s package arrived at the Luohu collection point, our runner was ready. The first order of business wasn’t to run, but to inspect.

We had to confirm: Are the crabs still alive? We checked the insulated foam box, the ice packs, and the condition of the “precious cargo.” Only after confirming the crabs were in perfect, lively condition did we proceed to step two.

Step 2: “1-on-1 Dedicated” Service & The Trolley

This was a significant batch of crabs—far too large for a backpack. Our runner came prepared with a professional trolley (dolly), securely loading the entire box.

We immediately activated our Zerrand 1-on-1 Dedicated Delivery Service. This means: No batching, no detours, not a second wasted. Our runner cleared customs immediately and got on the MTR, keeping the cargo in sight the entire time.

Step 3: Conquering the “Last Mile” – Delivery to Ocean Park

The journey from Luohu Port to Hong Kong Ocean Park is a long haul, crossing Kowloon and tunneling to the south side of Hong Kong Island.

Our runner expertly navigated the route (East Rail Line → MTR transfers → South Island Line). Arriving at the Ocean Park station, they immediately contacted the client for the final handover, whether at the park entrance or the adjacent Marriott Hotel.

The Result: A Satisfied Client, “Zero-Time-Delay” Freshness

In the end, the batch of Suzhou crabs completed their journey across the border and were delivered, still fresh and lively, at the client’s specified time. The client was extremely satisfied with our speed and professionalism.

This is the Zerrand value: We aren’t just runners. We are your reliable logistics partners for handling cross-border perishables, fragile items, and high-value goods.
